What the Messages on your requests mean.

Request Sent

does not mean the item has been sent or shipped to you, it means that we have sent your requests on in our referral system to potential lenders.

Cancelled by ILL staff

means ODL is sending the book or it is currently out or is on order and we have placed a hold on it for you.

Customer notified by e-mail

means the item is shipped from another instate oclc library or an out of state library.

Request finished

means we have done an automatic received/ returned on the item in WorldCat.

Going through ODL in Illiad, it’s not possible for us to be able to generate an email when the lending library has completed the request on OCLC. Just as with Agent, we never knew when an item made it’s way back to the lending library. Although you updated the status to returned in agent, because the request was in our referral code, we updated daily all returned items in Agent to ‘Complete’ which on your end looked as though the lending library had received it back when in reality it was really our referral code that you were communicating with and not the lending library. Unless you hear from the lending library in the form of an email or an overdue, you can assume the item got back. If you have any other questions or comments continue to use the blog page.

Subject requests become “Ask a Librarian”

For example, a patron wants a book on Chinese astrology. A book on this subject is not in your collection. Rather than searching for an appropriate title, go to

Ask A Librarian

on the ODL catalog page and in the big box just ask for us to send you a book on this subject.  This will be a lot simpler than the old Subject Request forms.

Problems anyone?

Please comment to the blog or contact the person who trained you if you are having any problems using Illiad for your Interlibrary Loans. We want to make sure everyone who was trained feels comfortable using Illiad.

Also you might want your patrons to use WorldCat.org to find material they are interested in getting. WorldCat.org can allow your patrons to see the Oklahoma OCLC libraries that own this material and it will also give them an OCLC number to make requesting the item easier for you.

Let us know about any questions or problems.

From the Reference Desk: Hunting and Fishing Licenses ONLINE!

Oklahomans Can Purchase Hunting & Fishing Licenses In-Store or Online
Oklahoma City, OK. – September 4, 2009 – Whichever way you prefer to shop – in-store or online, the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation (ODWC) has you covered when buying your hunting and fishing license this year. Oklahoma and out-of-state residents can purchase their sportsmen licenses in-store or online at To ensure all sportsmen have convenient access to purchasing hunting and fishing licenses, the ODWC sells licenses in more than 700 stores throughout the state. These stores include sporting goods stores, bait shops, convenience stores, and large discount centers. Licenses purchased through licensed dealers are limited to the payment methods accepted by the dealer.
The quickest, greenest, and easiest way to obtain a hunting or fishing license is to buy it online. Visitors to the site can simply apply online by clicking the ‘Buy Your License Online’ link, purchase and print their wildlife license from the comfort and convenience of their own home. Payments accepted online include Visa and MasterCard and are processed through a secure payment engine, which abides by rigorous policies and procedures to ensure that sportsmen can be confident that their payments are safe, private, and secure.
“Purchasing your license electronically is not only quick and convenient but it allows you to replace your license if you loose that license,” said Melinda Sturgess-Streich, Assistant Director of Oklahoma Department of Wildlife. “In four easy steps, all sportsmen can purchase and print their license on regular 8.5” x 11” paper using a common black and white printer.”
According to Go Green Oklahoma, 13 million sheets of paper have been saved as a result of moving the licensing paper process to computer-based technology since January 2007.
Every wildlife license purchased helps fund wildlife conservation in the state of Oklahoma. These funds help manage the fish and game species across Oklahoma.
About the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation
ODWC is the state agency responsible for managing fish and wildlife. The Wildlife Department receives no general state tax appropriations and is supported by hunting and fishing license fees and federal excise taxes on hunting and fishing equipment.
