Remember to discard the initial A, An and The in the beginning of a title when searching WorldCat.

The Oklahoma Department of Libraries Interlibrary Loan office will stop referring and mailing books between December 7, 2009, and January 7, 2010.  You may still submit requests into ILLIAD during this time.  Any requests submitted between the above dates will be held until we start mailing and referring on January 8, 2010.

Photocopies will be mailed through December 18, 2009.  Interlibrary loan requests will NOT be filled or referred between the above dates.  Interlibrary loan resumes on January 8, 2010.

Audiobooks!

Do you have patrons interested in audiobooks?

OverDrive is working with us to try to bring downloadable audiobooks to the smaller Oklahoma libraries. If you are interested in this format, please let me know, mmiller at oltn.odl.state.ok.us.

The costs below are a starting point. Libraries interested, but find the costs more than they can afford should still contact us as we might explore other options.

For those of you not familiar with the downloadable audiobooks, Tulsa City-County , Oklahoma City Metropolitan Library System  and Pioneer Library System  all have the service and you can find information at their websites, just look for “downloadable audiobooks”.

The pricing is based on the population served by the library. During the first year the fee is split 50/50 (50% for hosting, set-up, training and bandwith and the other 50% going towards the purchase of titles) During the second and succeeding years the split moves in favor of the library – 1/3 for hosting, bandwidth, training, etc. and 2/3 towards the purchase of titles.

Population based served/ Annual Fee:
1 – 25,000 pop. $3,000
25,001 – 60,000 pop. $6,000
60,001 – 100,000 pop. $9,000
100,001 – 200,000 pop. $12,000

Libraries that sign up in the initial group will be the libraries that decide on the design of the OverDrive/OK Library website-design, look, colors used, layout, website name, lending periods etc.

ODL is moving from one server to another for our circulation system which is causing the View and Renew feature in our catalog to not work.  If you need to renew any of our books loaned to you, contact David Hankey in our Circulation Dept at 405-522-3491 or 800-522-8116.
